Bentley Mulsanne Speed heading for 2014 Paris Motor Show – and maybe a Bentley Mulsanne Coupe

It looks like the Bentley Mulsanne Speed is on the way, and maybe a Mulsanne Coupe too?

Even the very top end car makers are finding that buyers are willing to pay more for more driver-focused versions of the their cars, with even Rolls Royce churning out the Wraith- a Ghost Coupe –  to tempt buyers. And now it looks like Bentley are going to extend their Speed versions from the Continental range to the Mulsanne.

It’s already apparent that the Speed versions of the W12 Continental – and the V8S versions of the Continental V8 – are the cars buyers are most tempted by in Bentley’s range, and Bentley CEO, Wolfgang Durheimer, has told Auto express there are Mulsanne developments afoot that will arrive at Motor Shows in 2014.

That almost certainly means a Mulsanne Speed with something around 550bhp (or more), more drive-focused suspension and steering and a price tag that starts nudging over the £250k mark arriving at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.

What could also be on the cards is the Bentley Mulsanne Coupe if Bentley are intent on making more of the Mulsanne brand and offer a – more expensive – take on the Rolls Royce Wraith.

And if Bentley do go the Mulsanne Coupe route it also seems likely we’ll see a Mulsanne Drophead too.
