Brabus boosts 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-class

As the new Mercedes-Benz vehicles roll out of the shop in Stuttgart, Germany, tuner Brabus must be there waiting with open arms for its next project. Its latest is the 2014 S-Class.

The newest luxury car for the tri-pointed star already comes with a 4.6-liter, 449-hp, twin-turbocharged V8, but that obviously wasn't enough. For chrissakes, on Saturdays when all those S-classes go to the drag strip, you can't be the last one across the line, we imagine Brabus saying.

The S500 power upgrade for the newest Brabus is called the B50. That kit improves output to 520 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 sprint time lowers to 4.2 seconds, and max velocity goes to 186 mph.

For the S63 AMG, Brabus makes the B63 and B63S kits. The B63 bumps the factory output from 577 hp and 664 lb-ft to 650 hp and 737 lb-ft, all on tap from 2,250-3,750 rpm.

The Brabus B63S pushes power even further up the ladder to 730 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque. All of that twist is offered from 1,750 to 5,000 rpm, and top speed is rated at 202 mph.

The B63S is distinguishable from less crazy Benzos by its gold heat-reflection system for the intake and charge-air pipes. The two factory turbochargers are replaced for more boost. The conversion also includes a low-temperature water radiator for the intercooling system, a free-flowing exhaust with 3-inch downpipes and special Brabus mapping for the ECU.

The sports exhaust system is also offered for the B50 and B63, which uses a controlled butterfly valve to switch between “sport” and “coming home.”

To keep all that speed stuck to the ground, Brabus installed an aero kit on the S-class, made from carbon fiber and plastic. The full setup will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show later this year.

A selection of 19-, 20-, and 21-inch wheels is offered, as well as Brabus-branded interior pieces and a lowering module that works with the stock Airmatic suspension.
