Breckland Beira

Fri, 06 Jun 2008

Norfolk-based Breckland - part of Hong Kong-based multi-national, Riche Holdings - will display a new hand-built, two-seat Beira roadster at the forthcoming London Motorexpo.

Based GM's Kappa platform, the Beira features new front and rear body sections made from lightweight composites instead of steel. This not only enabled the creation of a distinctive nose section and pronounced fastback rear, but it also cut down on weight. GM's steel doors and manual cloth top with heated rear window have been retained. When folded down, the top stows out of sight under the sculpted decklid, incorporating individual fairings behind driver and passenger.

Inside, the Beira features a custom-built interior, which can be appointed to specific buyer requirements in terms of materials and equipment, including hand-stitched leather/Alcantara seats and trim. The central instrument cluster incorporates a double DIN 7-inch color touch screen with DVD and navigation system.

Power for the Beira will be sourced from GM's potent 6.0-liter LS2 V8 engine producing 400bhp. The car goes on sale in the UK in November 2008.
