Breitling commemorate ISR with new timepiece
Tue, 29 Nov 2011Bentley's collaboration with timepiece creator Breitling is a well-established one, which stretches back years. The latest coming together between the luxury brands is in commemoration of Juha Kankkunen's world-record-breaking jaunt on the frozen Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland.
Earlier this year, four-time World Rally Champion Kankkunen piloted the biofueled Supersports convertible to a – frankly incredible – top speed of 205.48mph off the coast of Finland.
Bentley's other commemorative piece for the event – the limited edition run ISR Supersports convertible – provides the inspiration for the watch, with the two sharing such design details as the ‘distinctive' red hue in the detailing, swathes of carbon fiber across the facia and presentation box as well as the machine knurled finish on the control buttons.
Both Bentley and Breitling state that their aim is to uphold the ‘renowned and time-honored tradition of genuine exclusivity'. Therefore the watch, with correlating number to the ISR cabriolet, is only available to buyers of the car, free of charge of course.
"Juha Kankkunen's drive was a remarkable achievement and worthy of a very special car," said Wolfgang Duerheimer, Bentley's Chairman and Chief Executive.
"The Continental Supersports ‘Ice Speed Record' is a true driver's car that captures that unique Bentley spirit. It offers extreme performance, agility and an extrovert personality, while retaining the refinement, handcrafted luxury and comfort our customers expect," he added.
