Bridgestone’s ‘We’ve been everywhere’ Road Trip prize giving
Fri, 09 Aug 2013Bridgestone’s ‘I’ve been everywhere’ Road Trip
Flogging tyres isn’t the easiest job in the world; we all need them – at intervals far too regular than we’d like – but buyers tend to fall in to two camps – those who know a brand and ask for it by name, and those that have put on their car whatever the man at Kwik Fit is pushing this week. So ‘Brand Awareness’ is the name of the game (a game that can backfire – just ask Pirelli what’s going on in F1) and the more potential buyers a tyre brand can lodge its name in the brain of, the better.
Which is why Bridgestone are running their We’ve been everywhere interactive campaign which very cleverly plots the escape of one man from office drudgery and showcases his journey out in to the proper world, all to a soundtrack of Johnny Cash’s ‘I’ve been everywhere’.
En-route our hero gets to travel by land and air, in transport as diverse as an HGV, Fiat 500, motorbike – even when with a sidecar when it turns in to Wallace and Gromit for a few frames – gets tattooed, goes skinny dipping with a beautiful girl, loses the girl, finds another and generally has a high old time.
Throughout the video you’re invited to join in – for example by entering your name to be inked in at a Tattoo parlour – and at various points you can click to win prizes, and you can create your own road trip experience and even more interactivity if you log in with your Facebook account.
It’s a harmless bit of fun – and there are a few prizes to be won – and it does seem to work. The downside is you find yourself humming ‘I’ve been everywhere’ in your head for the rest of the day after watching and, remarkably, you do remember it was Bridgestone tyres being pitched.
So click and watch it below - it’s more interesting than your own road trip would be – but be warned: you won’t stop humming, and next time the man at Kwik Fit says ‘What tyres would you like?’, don’t be surprised if the first thing that comes out of your mouth is ‘Bridgestone’.
And you’ll still be humming ‘I’ve been everywhere’ – even when you’re paying the bill.
