Cadillac CTS-V Estate / Wagon official
Mon, 29 Mar 2010The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon / Estate will debut at the New York Motor Show
After Bob Lutz’ comments that the Cadillac CTS-V will come in any flavour you want, we’ve known that not only will there be a CTS-V Coupe – which was officially revealed in January at Detroit – but that there would be a Cadillac CTS-V Wagon as well.
The arrival of the CTS-V Estate became certain when we got hold of spy photos of the CTS-V Estate and now Cadillac has issued official pictures of the load-lugging, barn-storming Wagon ahead of its official reveal at the New York Motor Show this week.
Cadillac aren’t calling the New York Show Car a Concept, but nor do they consider it a production version. They say they’re looking for feedback on colours and trim options, which is interesting. The show car is painted in Midnight Silver, first seen on the Cadillac Sixteen Concept (which you may remember as the futuristic Cadillac May drove on TG a few years back) and trimmed up in black leather with Alcantara accents.
The CTS-V Estate gets all the goodness that the saloon and coupe CTS-V get, including the 6.2 litre, 556 bhp V8 which will chuck the far from small Wagon to 60mph in 3.9 seconds; Brembo brakes as standard and Magnetic Ride Control; choice of a six-speed manual or a 6-speed auto with paddle-shift. A Euro-spec if ever we saw one.
This is a brave move by Cadillac. The Americans – on the whole – really don’t ‘Get’ the powerful estate car and a CTS-V Estate isn’t going to have any real impact on Cadillac’s bottom line. Except perhaps as a halo car to prove that they are making cars we should take seriously in Europe. But first we’d need a Cadillac network on this side of the Pond.
