Cadillac Elmiraj concept (2013)

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

Cadillac has revealed its Elmiraj grand coupé concept, which showcases its plans for its next-generation flagship sports models.

The four-seater concept – which measures in at 5,207mm long, 1,930mm wide and 1,397mm high – was designed at General Motors' advanced design studio in North Hollywood, California, under the direction of Frank Saucedo and is an evolution of last year's Cien concept.

Mark Adams, Cadillac design director, says, "Elmiraj advances Cadillac's provocative modern design and performance, contrasted with bespoke craftsmanship and luxury. It explores performance driving, as well as how we're approaching elevating the Cadillac range and new dimensions of Art & Science philosophy."

The front of the Elmiraj features an evolved version of the Cadillac Crest that has no wreath, intended to highlight the concept's streamlined design. Signature Cadillac design cues can also been seen, such as the long hood and wheelbase, clean side panels and vertical headlamps and tail lamps. Long hood vents act as outlets for the Elmiraj's V8 engine.

Inside, the IP's upper section consists of a single piece that extends across the full width of the car while backlit titanium trim curves from the cowl to the doors, separating the upper leather from the wood trim. The IP features an analog tachometer and speedometer that sit in front of a widescreen, high-resolution display that projects driver information and the view from a front-mounted camera. The additional 10-inch infotainment touchscreen can be hidden inside the IP.
