Caparo T1 – Race Extreme Version and new options
Fri, 20 Mar 2009The Caparo T1 Race Extreme Version gets 620bhp
[ad#ad-1]
We talk a lot about extreme versions of road cars. By any measure the Lamborhini Murcielago LP670-4 SV is extreme, and the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition even more so. Brutal almost, with performance that you will rarely, if ever, be able to use to the full on public roads.
But both these cars, and almost any other we can mention (even the blown Rocket) pale in to complete sensible-ness when compared to the daddy of extreme road cars – The Caparo T1. But just in case even the Caparo T1 in standard form is too tame for you, they’ve thoughtfully brought at a new version – The Race Extreme Version.
You have to remember that the Caparo T1 is the car that frightened Mr Clarkson half to death when he tested it, so this new version, offering a huge 620bhp and 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, will probably have him in the morgue in no time. To be fair, this is an extreme version of the track car, not the road version, but it will give an F1 car a run for its money with its 10,000rpm limit and brutal acceleration.
Apart from the power increase, the Race Extreme also gets seriously uprated Carbon Ceramic brakes, with 6 piston callipers at the front and 4 piston at the back. Throw in a comprehensive active aerodynamic pack, fully adjustable suspension, a tunable ECU and a bit of weight paring (20kg) and you have a seriously hairy beast.
But Caparo aren’t ignoring home comforts. Oh, no. For a paltry £21,760 they’ll give you a nice plexiglass sliding canopy, and for a very reasonable £3,750 you can even have aircon.
Where’s my cheque book?!
