Late Tuesday, General Motors and Chrysler submitted their recovery plans to the government.
The bottom line: GM and Chrysler say the need another $18 billion total in government loans to make it until auto sales turn around.
As part of the plans, the automakers gave a preview of some future products that they hope will help drive the turnaround.
Buried in GM's plan is a look at the production version of the Cadillac CTS coupe. According to GM, the CTS coupe goes into production in 2010.
Meanwhile, inside the Chrysler plan we found early looks at the restyled Chrysler 300 sedan and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Chrysler says the 300C's fuel economy will improve by 22 percent from 2010 to 2012, and get an upgraded interior. The Grand Cherokee will see its fuel economy improve 19 percent during the same time, Chrysler says.
