Citroen C4 Aircross
Mon, 03 Oct 2011The sister car to Peugeot's 4008, the C4 Aircross is Citroen's attempt at injecting its DNA into a SUV. We say 'injecting' because, as with its predecessor the C-Crosser, this car comes from a joint venture between PSA and Mitsubishi and – if you look closely – you'll see this car shares its roots with the Mitsubishi ASX. Regardless, Citroen claims the Aircross redefines the conventional cues of compact SUV design...
The C4 Aircross differs visually from its Peugeot counterpart by taking inspiration from the Hypnos concept car of 2008. The grille-dominated DRG is flanked by large, drawn back crystal light graphics and vertical daytime running lights that are said to ‘accentuate the vehicle's compact appearance'. Note also that the lamps and upper 'chevron' grille now run into one another – a trend we're seeing in many vehicle designs right now.
Elsewhere, the Hypnos concept car's influence can be seen in the rear light graphics, wheel design and the inverted shark fin D-pillar. While influenced by the Hypnos, these parts are said to have been reworked to provide optimum efficiency.
Inside, occupants are treated to a full-length panoramic roof that features built-in LED lighting to provide a ‘cozy atmosphere' within the car's interior during the evening and nighttime.
