Citroen DS 6WR SUV set for debut in Beijing
Tue, 15 Apr 2014A year ago, we got all excited about Citroen’s Wild Rubis concept. At the time, we said it previewed a forthcoming Citroen DS SUV, so there’s no prizes for guessing what the Citroen DS 6WR is.
Making its debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, the DS 6WR was designed in Paris and directly inspired by the Wild Rubis concept car. It represents the next step for Citroen’s premium DS line, being the first SUV to wear the DS badge.

Citroen DS 6WR: technical details and specifications
At 4,550mm long, 1,860mm wide and 1,610mm tall, the DS 6WR slots somewhere between the C4 Picasso and the Grand C4 Picasso, and wears standard fit 19-inch alloy wheels.
Two versions of the excellent 1.6-litre, four-cylinder THP petrol engine will be available, one offering 160hp, the other delivering 200hp. Both powerplants are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
A four-wheel-drive option will not be offered, but the DS 6WR does feature Citroen’s Grip Control – an anti-skid system which adapts to changing conditions to optimise traction at all times. It’s a more fuel-efficient alternative to four-wheel drive and is perfectly suited to the majority of conditions.

Citroen DS 6WR: design and on-sale details
The Citroen DS 6WR also features aluminium roof bars and a DS Wings grille, so called because of the two chrome-finished wings that connect the grille to the headlights. The xenon headlights themselves have the look of a tuning fork.
At the rear, the 3D-design lights appear integrated into the wraparound tailgate and the DS initials are embossed on the side of each light cluster. The base of the tailgate is finished with a chrome bar, with the DS 6WR also featuring twin exhaust pipes.
The Citroen DS 6WR will go on sale in China towards the end of the year. It is the third DS model to be built there. A French-built version is set for sale in the UK and Europe, which we’re expecting to debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in September.
