Citroen DS4 – Citroen DS High Rider Concept

Citroen are calling this the ‘DS High Rider Concept‘ and have announced it will be at the Geneva Motor Show in a couple of months. But this is the new Citroen DS4 which was teased earlier this week and is Citroen’s next in the DS range. The ‘High Rider’ Concept is actually showing as a three door, but it will certainly spawn an extra pair of doors before it hits the road.
The DS4 uses the new C4 platform (the new C4 will hit later in 2010), but it’s a bigger departure from the C4 than the DS3 is from the C3. The front end of the DS4 follows many of the styling cues from the DS3, but as you would expect some of the concept flights of fancy will disappear before production starts.
The DS4 Crossover is likely to come with the same range of engines as the C4 but also with a hybrid lump. We revealed last year that the Citroen DS5 will come with a diesel hybrid powertrain when it laiunches in 2011, and it seems certain that the DS4 will too. The High Rider Concept is certainly touted as having ‘…an advanced ‘Full Hybrid’ diesel drivetrain that combines a refined HDi DPFS* engine under the bonnet with an electric motor located on the rear axle.’
The DS4 looks as if it will demonstrate more convincingly than the Ds3 Citroen’s intention to make the DS4 a ‘Luxury’ Citroen. Citroen are calling the DS4 ‘…an expression of automotive luxury and elegance.‘ We should see a production version by Frankfurt in September with the DS4 hitting the roads in early 2011.
And we have to admit it does look convincing.
