Citroen DS4 interior photos

TCitroen has released interior photos of their High Rider Concept - the Citroen DS4

Strictly speaking these aren’t pictures of the Citroen DS4 interior, but of the Citroen High Rider Concept interior. But – bar a few production revisions – they are one and the same.

We got our first peek at the DS4 as the High rider concept at Geneva a couple of months ago after the usual preamble tease. But Citroen have to drag things out a bit as the DS4 isn’t going to hit the roads until after the C4, which means well in to 2011 before customers get anything. But we are half expecting it to turn up at the Paris Show this year in full production-ready Citroen DS4 form.

Based on the 2010 C4, the DS4 takes the DS badge further away from its donor than the DS3 does with the C3. Designed to be a high-riding crossover – realistically aimed at… well, we’re not sure. We expected the target market to be stuff like the MINI Countryman and Nissan Juke. But the High rider concept is bigger than both. In fact it’s as big as a Nissan Qashqai, although – despite it’s concept name – quite a bit lower.

As we’ve said before, Citroen are pushing the DS range as the upmarket bit of Citroen’s new way forward, and to that end the High Rider/DS4 gets lashings of leather on the seats, doors and dash, a chunk of chrome detailing and, of course, DS logos. The exterior takes lots of design cues from the DS3 and the SportLounge concept.

We had our doubts about using the DS moniker on more prosaic Citroens, but the DS3 has gone a long way to quell those criticisms. The Ds4 looks even more promising as a proper car in its own right rather than a tarted C4 with a few bits of posh trim and a new badge.

So we’re nearly there with the DS4 and we should start to see some solid detail on the DS5 before long. And what about the Citroen DS6?
