Citroën to unveil flagship model in Beijing
Tue, 20 Mar 2012Citroën has released two teaser images for a new luxury flagship model to be unveiled at the Beijing motor show next month, as part of its efforts to reposition the brand further upmarket with its DS model range.
The car, which is to be the automaker's fourth and largest model in its DS range, appears to be a direct descendent of the Citroën Metropolis Concept, first seen at the Shanghai World Fair in 2010.
Although it is unclear whether or not the model seen in the pictures will be the production version of the Metropolis, the two clearly share many design features. Bearing in mind Citroën's recent history with its DS line of cars, the translation from concept to production may well be very accurate.
The teaser offers a glimpse of an extremely long roofline, reaching back into what may be either a 'shooting-brake' wagon (as per the DS5), a sporty fastback or a more traditional sedan limousine rear.
Designed by its studios in Shanghai, China, the Metropolis was a large sedan designed to take on the full-size luxury sedan market, which is currently dominated by the Audi A8 in China.
