Classic Lotus Cortina owner wins £5,000 fund
Tue, 31 Dec 2013A LUCKY Lotus Cortina owner has won a £5,000 prize to make improvements and restorations to his car.
Pete Shaw was awarded the prize by Footman James classic car insurance at last month’s Classic Motor Show.
His beloved 1966 Mk1 Airflow Lotus Cortina had been entered into the competition with much-needed work on the cards.
Pete said: “I am absolutely over the moon to be the lucky winner of such a fabulous prize! It was a fantastic surprise to receive the call.
“The money will allow me to do some necessary repairs and improvements to my Cortina, including new interior trim.
“I would like to thank Footman James and look forward to insuring my car via them again when it is due.”
Pete, whose first car was also a Cortina, has owned a string of classic Fords over the years, but the early Lotus Cortina has always been at the top of his wish-list.
Five years ago the 50-year-old finally bought this one and has cherished it.
