Surely the best concept name of the show?
Possibly. Although it sounds like an early 80s rap MC with dirty habits, this concept is actually designed to showcase a possible all-terrain vehicle able to transport keen mountain bikers to extreme locations – as well as providing shelter to fix their rides under its twin gull-wing doors with built-in LED lamps. The compact SUV is based on the production Hijet but is a little wider at 1600mm.
According to Korean designer Jung-Sam Park the cabin’s concept is about the contrast between the hi-tech digital instrument panel and a rugged seat and trim package. The wide-ribbed seat bench plus smart driver display that appears to float above the rest of the dashboard are certainly highlights of this production-unlikely global unveil. Still, Park believes there is a 'slight possibility' the vehicle could be clambering up mountain paths in the future – as his president 'really likes it'. If Daihatsu does say yes, expect the gull-wing doors to be ditched immediately on weight and cost grounds and cyclists having to resort to access through the rear tailgate. However, despite its undeniable coolness, we suspect this concept is strictly show-candy.
