Design Contest: Freightliner 'Pride & Profit'
Fri, 03 Feb 2012Freightliner, the iconic American truck manufacturer, is hosting a design contest to create the next generation of its 'Pride & Profit' trucks.
Steeped heavily in American history, Freightliner has been the backbone of small and large businesses throughout the country. Taking this into consideration, as well as Freightliner's own visual identity, contestants are asked to present their interpretation of a heavy-duty truck for the year 2030.
Deliverables are a minimum of one interior and one exterior render. A panel of judges and designers will assess entries on three criteria: message, illustrations, and styling. These three topics will challenge contestants to think about how the long-haul trucking industry will evolve over the coming 20 years as well as critiquing how well their themes and ideas are conveyed.
Entries will be posted on the Freightliner Facebook page before the competition closes on 15 February 2012. Three finalists will be selected and asked to attend the Mid-America Truck Show (MATS) on 22-24 March.
Visitors to the show will be asked to vote on their favourite, with the eventual winner being awarded a $20,000 scholarship fund and optional paid internship with Daimler Trucks North America. The runner-up will receive a $10,000 scholarship fund.
