Deuce Coupes and Roadsters to highlight New England auction
Tue, 22 Sep 2009Deuce Coupes and Roadsters will invade New England this Saturday when a collection of nearly 30 iconic 1932 Fords hits the auction block.
Bidders can choose from restored and unrestored versions of the Deuces. There are also more than 150 lots of original Ford parts available.
Bonhams is staging the Vintage New England auction Saturday at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Mass.
One of the headliners is a 1932 Ford Model B Deluxe Roadster estimated to be worth $100,000 to $135,000. It has an R.E.M. Engineering twin-overhead cam unit, dual-intake manifold with Stromberg 97 carburetors and custom stainless-steel exhaust headers.
While the Deuces are sure to grab the spotlight, other American and European marques are also well represented. A 1924 Bentley 3-Liter “Red Label” Speed Model is in its original, unrestored condition--and still runs. It could fetch as much as $325,000.
A 1901 Runabout, believed to be the earliest Stanley Steamer, will also cross the block after being in a private collection since the 1960s.
A 1937 AC 16/80 Competition Model Two Seater and a 1925 Stutz Speedway Six Series 695H seven-passenger touring car will also be among the highlights.
There will also be nearly 400 lots of car memorabilia at the auction, including manuals, hood ornaments and books.
