Dodge Dart
Wed, 07 Dec 2011These teaser images preview the 2012 Dodge Dart. Set to debut at next year's Detroit Auto Show, the Dart packs a European heart. Based upon a stretched and widened Alfa Romeo Giulietta chassis and using Fiat's multi award-winning Multiair engine, the Dart aims to put Dodge firmly in the compact sedan sector.
Dodge believes that the 2012 Dart captures the essence of its 1960s namesake and injects a sporty and fun undertone into the segment. The car's looks, much like its specification list, are thin on the ground at present with details trickling out before NAIAS.
Despite this, Dodge claim the Darts exterior proportions are designed to ‘set off' the dynamic lines of the car – giving class-leading aerodynamic attributes. The family split-crosshair grille is present, along with projector headlights up front and accentuated fenders.
The muscular stance and sporting attributes are continued around the rear of the car, with the Dart sporting a full-width ‘racetrack' tail lamp and a dual exit exhaust system, both inspired by its larger sibling, the Charger.
