Don’t Expect Toyota’s New Cab To Go South Of The River
Thu, 07 Nov 2013LOOK familiar? Toyota certainly hopes so. The Japanese firm has unveiled, in concept form, an interpretation of the iconic London black cab.
With the black cab noted for its accessibility and manoeuvrability on London’s congested streets, it’s hardly surprisingly Toyota’s designers were influenced by one of the nation’s most recognisable forms of public transport.
Set for its public debut at the forthcoming Tokyo motor show, the concept car is being used to demonstrate features that should enhance accessibility for passengers – especially children and the elderly.
The car’s low floor, electric sliding door and high cabin should make it more appealing to a broader range of customers, and the exercise complements the Japanese government’s push to encourage bus and taxi makers to make their vehicles more user friendly.
