Ferrari F12 Berlinetta: The action video
Sat, 10 Mar 2012Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in action on Video
With the official debut of the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta out of the way at Geneva, Ferrari has sent us a video of the F12 in action.
If the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta wasn’t the star of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, it was a close run thing. And what’s not to like about the F12? Big V12 engine up front with 730bhp, rear wheel drive and all the right Ferrari design cues.
Perhaps the only thing we’re not fans of is the official nomenclature. It’s apparently not the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, but the F12berlinetta. Which seems very un-Ferrari. Berlinetta means a sporty coupe and should be shouted loud and proud, not consigned as a lower-case appendage to F12 (actually, strictly speaking, Berlinetta means little saloon – but we’ll gloss over that).
But apart from an anorak moan about the Berlinetta bit, everything else seems to be just what a Ferrari should be, and now we’ve seen it in the flesh at Geneva we’re even more convinced Ferrari have the F12 bang on.
Apart from the looks, it’s the technical aspect of the new F12 that’s most impressive. The power on offer is nothing short of remarkable from a naturally aspirated engine, with 730bhp making the iconic Enzo seem lacking. It has a spaceframe chassis and endless grades of alloy to keep weight down to a slimline 1525kg.
The F12 also has an ‘Aero Bridge’ at the front that helps develop 123kg of downforce at 125mph, active cooling for the ceramic brakes, economy that’s said to be 30 per cent better than the 599 at 18.9mpg (never in a million years in the ral world) and ‘low’ emissions of 350g/km.
And if you doubt the words, just look at the photos and video. You’ll be convinced.
