Ferrari F70: New Enzo officially teased
Sat, 15 Dec 2012Ferrari has revealed the first tease photos of the new Enzo (F70 / F150) in the Ferrari Magazine ahead of its reveal.
We know what the front of the new Ferrari Enzo looks like thanks to photo sneaked at a private presentation for the Ferrari faithful recently, and we’ve seen the F70 on video, albeit camouflaged.
But now we know what the back end of the F70 looks like thanks to a teaser photo on the latest edition of the Ferrari Magazine.
What we see is a new Enzo taking cues from Ferrari’s F1 programme, with a sculptured nose seemingly mimicking an F1 nosecone and a back end with two round lights and a central exhaust that looks rather like an F1 red light. But that could be an illusion caused by the lighting.
There seems to be a double-bubble roof and swept-back headlights and a cabin that sits within a heavily haunched body, with doubtless much use of carbon fibre and active aerodynamics.
Power will come from the Ferrari V12 found in the new F12 together with a hybrid KERS boost promising something approaching 900bhp in total.
Weight is expected to come in at around 1250kg, not much lighter than the Enzo despite more modern lightweight materials, but that’s probably down to the extra weight of the KERS stuff.
Performance in the F70 is said to be 0-124mph in 7.5 seconds (2 seconds quicker than the Enzo) with the ability to lap Ferrari’s Fiorano test track 5 seconds quicker than the Enzo and yet, thanks no doubt to the hybrid setup, come in with an official emissions figure of 240g/km (which means official economy of 28mpg).
The new Enzo/F150/F70 (whatever it may be called) looks like it will make a public debut at Detroit in January (or even Geneva in March) despite Ferrari’s claims it would arrive before 2012 was out. It will cost approaching £1 million and all are probably already allocated, so no need to raid the piggy bank.
