Ferrari servicing FREE for 7 years
Wed, 27 Apr 2011Ferrari Genuine Maintenance - no more Ferrari service costs
There’s nothing more irritating than shelling out a few hundred grand on a car and then having to save up to get it serviced. Or so Ferrari believe. So they’ve solved that by including free scheduled maintenance on all new Ferrari’s sold from 15th March – the Ferrari Genuine Maintenance Programme.
Actually, it’s almost as generous as that, but there are a couple of caveats. At the moment, although it will spread, we think this seven years free servicing applies only in Europe. And it only applies to the Ferrari California, Ferrari 458 Italia and the new Ferrari FF.
So if you’re grabbing a 599 or a 599 GTO or an Aperta or an old-stock Scaglietti, you’re out of luck. Otherwise, Ferrari will be covering all your scheduled maintenance for seven years, which includes not just labour but all parts too, including fluids.
You would expect – or at least we did – that there would be mileage limits on this new plan. But there are none. Which means you could do 200,000 miles a year in your new 458 Italia and Ferrari would keep it on the road with a free service - including labour and consumables – every three weeks.
What this Ferrari Genuine Maintenance Programme will do is keep all new Ferraris in the dealer network and make sure that every Ferrari is perfectly serviced. Which is no bad thing.
But what it will also do is put a hole in the finances of Ferrari specialist who currently do work on modern Ferraris out of warranty (a small, but significant, saving for second owners – until now), and potentially do the same to Ferrari dealers who will now, we assume, get paid for servicing what Ferrari decides they will be paid.
Which won’t be anywhere near as much as the customer would have paid.
