Fiat 500 Pink – now it’s the 500C convertible
Mon, 15 Mar 2010The Fiat 500C Pink convertible hits the UK - but only 300 of them
Fiat have been busy doing what BMW have done with the MINI – and Audi seem intent on doing with the new A1 – namely churning out special editions all over the place to keep punters interested and make sales. And it seems to work. Buyers like something that stands out from the crowd and of which there will be a limited run.
Step forward the Fiat 500 Pink, launched by Fiat a few months ago in the UK and limited to just 500 units. It would seem that Fiat consider it to be a big success as they’ve now decided to do a Fiat 500C Pink. Yep, another Pink Fiat 500 only this time the top comes down. Oh, goodie. But at least there’s only 300 of the convertibles.
The Fiat 500C Pink is based on the Pop spec and gets a black top, splashes of chrome trim, body-coloured mirrors and a set of alloys. Inside there’s a leather gear knob and wheel, pink trim on the dash, Blue&Me infotainment and bespoke mats. And of course the bodywork resplendent in its best Barbie hue.
Fiat say that at £13,500 – and with £1,870 of extras – you’re £670 ahead of the game compared to speccing up a standard Pop with the kit the Pink has. Which is undoubtedly a bargain for what is arguably the best little round-town convertible on the market.
But why the Fiat 500C Pink? Couldn’t they have done a Fiat 500C Black? Or a Fiat 500C White? Or a Fiat 500C anything but Pink?
Still, I suppose that’s the point. It’s not aimed at me.
