Fiat Centro Stile shares Panda Design sketches
Wed, 12 Oct 2011After debuting at the Frankfurt motor show, and impressing us in the process, Fiat has released a series of fun illustrations documenting the new Panda's design process.
Produced by the Centro Stile Fiat, the illustrations aim to highlight and describe the new stylistic features and functions of the city car.
The new Panda is said to be inspired by 'the most modern trends' and is also based on the idea that every user has their own needs. This was something that was evident in Frankfurt, as expressed through the more mature design language, which still encapsulated the flexibility that made the original Panda so popular in the first place.
The illustrations break-down the features and functions of both the Panda's interior and exterior, as well as offering an explanation into the choices and decisions made in the design process. They also offer a look into the form langage of the new car's predecessor, as illustrated by the image to the left. See the full set of images by clicking on the link to the photo gallery above.
Fiat has also released a video with Roberto Giolito, Director of Design at the Italian automaker and the man responsible for the successful reinterpretation of the iconic 500, who walks us through a brief history of the Panda and the new car's design features.
We will be featuring a full Design Development on the Panda on CDN shortly, featuring our usual exclusive access and images. In the meantime, check out the gallery to see the Centro Stile's explanation of the new car.
