Fiat Doblo (2010) revealed
Tue, 17 Nov 2009The 2010 Fiat Doblo
I know, you’ve been waiting for the Fiat Doblo.
The Doblo is another of those van based mini people carrier things, designed to transport as much as possible for as little outlay as can be managed. The name suits it (you could see Dobby the Elf behind the wheel) but if your need is to shift your brood and their belongings around as cheaply as possible the Doblo – just like the equally daftly-named Peugeot Bipper Tepee – could fit the bill.
Due to hit European roads in January 2010, the Doblo comes as a five or seven seat MPV, with sliding doors at the rear (or you can have it in its real guise as the Cargo van). Based on a new, larger platform the Doblo boasts the longest wheelbase in its class and therefore offer a pretty voluminous load space of 790 litres and a decent amount of space for passengers.
At launch there will be a choice of four engines – a 94bhp petrol and three diesel multijets offering 89bhp, 104bhp or 133bhp. The rest of Europe will also get the option of a dual-fuel petrol/methane engine later on (although the UK won’t) and also scheduled is a further diesel engine with a dualogic, robotised manual with paddle shifts. All the engine variants will get stop-start to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
A decent range of options is available on the Doblo, including a climate control system with rear seat distribution, parking sensors font and rear, cruise control and Fiat’s Blue&Me hands free and Blue&Me TomTom.
No prices have been revealed thus far.
