Fifth Gear Tonight: Audi RS4, Used Sports Cars, Hot Hatch Showdown & F1 science

Fifth Gear tonight has Tiff Needell & Kris Meeke testing Hot Hatches, Vicki in the Audi RS4, Jonny in an F1 simulator & Jason on used sports cars.

The weekend saw a Top Gear adventure to Africa in cheap estate cars, so tonight’s episode of Fifth Gear should give some proper car insight for those missing Top Gear’s views on cars this week.

Jason Plato gets to play at the other end of the sports car scale than the one he’s used to this week with a look at the best used sports cars you can buy for just £5,000. It doesn’t sound a lot – and the maintenance won’t be cheap – but Jason manages to find a Porsche Boxster, Mazda RX8 and BMW Z4 to tickle the wallets of those looking for a bit of weekend fun.

Tiff Needell enlists rally star Kris Meeke to try a quartet of hot hatches on track to find out which hot hatch offers the most bang. Sadly, Fifth Gear have declined to tell us which four hot hatches are on offer in this challenge, but it shouldn’t take too much thought to come up with a short list.

Vicky Butler-Henderson heads off to Audi’s HQ in Germany this week to have a play with the new Audi RS4 Avant, Audi’s 444bhp stuff shifter that costs a pretty steep £55k in the UK. It’s hard to believe Ms B-H won’t find it appealing.

Finally, Jonny takes a look at the technology and science behind Formula 1 – well-timed with the new F1 season fast approaching - and gets to play in an F1 driving simulator.
