Fisker Surf Shooting Brake appears at Frankfurt
Tue, 13 Sep 2011Fisker Surf Shooting Brake
Fisker will reveal a Shooting Brake version of the Fisker Karma at Frankfurt today, the first new model we’ve seen in the flesh from the eco-car company for some time. And no, this isn’t project Nina, it’s the Fisker Surf.
The Surf Shooting Brake is Fisker’s answer to cars like the Ferrari FF but is really their response to the observation that three tons of batteries in the boot oif the regular Karma only leaves enough room for a toothbrush and a pair of pyjamas.
Not that the Surf Shooting Brake is now commodious – not by any stretch of the imagination. It offers anything from 12.7 to 29 cubic feet of space, which won’t mean you can use your new Karma Estate to be man and van for the day, but it does at least mean you might be able to take your suitcase with you – as long as you leave your passengers behind.
Apart from the bit bolted on the back – and a gain of 77lbs in weight – the Surf Shooting Brake is pretty much identical to its saloon sibling. It seems that Fisker are going to create a set of custom luggage for the Shooting Brake so owners can make the most of the newly available space.
Now news on when the Shooting Brake will arrive, or how much it will cost. But bet on a chunk more for the Surf Shooting Brake than the regular Fisker Karma.
