Ford Everest concept
Tue, 13 Aug 2013Ford has unveiled its new Everest SUV concept at a Go Further event in Sydney, Australia. It's set to challenge other cars such as Holden's Colorado 7 and the Mitsubishi Challenger.
Created by Ford's Australian design and production development team, the concept – a seven-seat version of the Ranger ute (pickup) – previews an SUV that's likely to be on sale within the next two years.
Its face features a signature three-row trapezoid grille familiar from other Fords most notably the EcoSport and Explorer flanked by angular headlamps. The concept also features pronounced wheelarches and a fender vent with the model's name inscribed.
While sharing its A-pillars and front quarter panels with the Ranger pickup, the Everest features a redesigned hood, while the rear end features lamps intersected by a broad Everest-emblazoned chrome grab bar and metallic lower body cladding that reflects that of the front.
The aerodynamic profile of the car features an upwards-flicking beltline along with a sharp crease across the doors, while the wraparound rear windshield is reminiscent of the Ford EcoSport.
There are no interior shots available yet, but it's expected it won't stray too far from that of the Ranger.
