Ford Fiesta is Used Car of the Year
Tue, 18 Dec 2012CAP, the used car information experts, have declared the Ford Fiesta as their used car of the year 2012.
Do you want a shopping car or a maybe car for use just in the urban jungle? Do you want a car to use every day to commute or do you want a plaything for the weekend? Are you a ‘petrolhead’ who wants performance and dynamics or do you prefer the easiest drive? The questions to get the right answer are almost endless.
But CAP – producers of the used car dealer’s bible and providers of independent used car information – have stuck their collective necks out and declared the Ford Fiesta as the best used car on the market. And actually, if you had to pick just one used car, the Fiesta probably has the best credentials.
The Fiesta provides great value for money, is easy to drive – and yet manages to offer an entertaining drive for those who want it – is relatively cheap to run and, if you buy sensibly, hangs on to a chunk of its value.
What you mustn’t do is rush out to your local Ford dealer and pick a new one from their price list and spec it out to suit. Instead, look for a pre-reg car with a handful of miles at a bargain price. A quick look this morning found pre-reg cars available for as much as 25 per cent off list, making a Fiesta 1.25 Zetec around £9k, a big saving from the £12.5k list.
Speaking of their opinion that the Ford Fiesta is the best used car buy, Mark Norman, of CAP, said:
It is always tempting for the motoring media and other industry observers to take ‘the petrol head’ approach when giving awards to cars which excite them, but the CAP Used Car of the Year Award recognises the contribution a car makes to both consumers and dealers.
It’s hard to argue CAP are wrong, especially as even a new Fiesta can provide a great used buy if you opt for a pre-reg car.
