Ford Grand C-Max & C-Max – Frankfurt Catchup
Thu, 17 Sep 2009Ford has revealed the new C-Max range in Frankfurt including the Grand C-Max (pictured).
Two weeks ago we took the lid off the new Ford C-Max with the first pictures of Ford’s 2010 C-Max, which is the first car from Ford to be built on the next generation Focus platform (C-Segment Platform). With swooping, overgrown-coupe lines Ford has done a good job of injecting a bit of style and it’s Kinetic design language in to the new C-Max.
And just a week later we revealed the C-Max ‘Plus’ – the Ford Grand C-Max - which offers all that the C-Max does but in a seven seat configuration. To accommodate the extra row of seats the Grand C-Max gets a raised roofline at the back, stretched wheelbase and sliding doors to make access to the back easier.
The Grand C-Max has some clever interior detail, with a centre seat in the middle row that can fold away under the adjacent seat to give a through walkway. The interior has some good touches and design detail, and the front cabin has a great ‘Cockpit’ feel to it.
Both the C-Max and the Grand C-Max will be offered with Ford’s new 1.6 litre, 4-pot ECOboost engine as well as TDCi units. Ford are also developing a 2.0 litre ECOboost lump that promises to deliver around 200bhp.
It’s hard to get too excited about people carriers of any size, but there’s a big market for them and Ford seem to have done a good job with the 2010 C-Max and its big brother. Bags of detail in the Ford C-Max & Grand C-Max Frankfurt Press Release.
