GM moves Nesbitt back to design group in management shake-up

Tue, 02 Mar 2010

General Motors has made big changes to its top management structure, splitting apart its sales and marketing activities and naming new bosses for each discipline. The goal is to reduce layers of management under Mark Reuss, GM's president for North America.

Among the key changes:

-- Designer Bryan Nesbitt, who was made chief of the Cadillac brand last fall, is going back to the design group. His new job puts him in charge of advanced-concept design, reporting to design chief Ed Welburn.

-- Nesbitt is being replaced at Cadillac by Kurt McNeil, who has been in charge of sales for the Chevrolet brand.

-- Susan Docherty remains in charge of GM's marketing efforts, but gives up sales responsibilities.

-- Chris Preuss, who had been in charge of GM's public-relations group, has been put in charge of OnStar. A new PR chief hasn't been named.
