German enthusiasts name TechArt GrandGT the 'Sports Car of the Year'
Wed, 30 Nov 2011
For the fourth year in a row, readers of German car magazine Auto Bild have selected the TechArt GrandGT as "Sports Car of the Year" in the sedan-tuning category.
The GrandGT, from TechArt Automobilidesign GmbH, is based on the Porsche Panamera Turbo and packs 630 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. The additional power comes from upgraded turbochargers, sport air filters and a tuned engine-management system.
All of these parts work together to help launch the GrandGT from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
The GrandGT isn't just for Germans. The car has come to the United States, with a handful roaming the streets. TechArt has a U.S. operation in Irvine, Calif.
Of course, it's not inexpensive. The GrandGT kit for the United States is priced at $31,500. Want to spend more? There's even a carbon-fiber GrandGT kit.
