Gordon Murray designs Batmobile
Wed, 22 Jun 2011It's safe to assume that the Caped Crusader is somewhat of a petrol-head. A quick look back over the various incarnations of the Batmobile will confirm this. However, for the up coming ‘Batman Live World Arena Tour', the Dark Knight has gone green.
The latest Batmobile, designed by Gordon Murray, features a host of environmentally-friendly attributes to presumably help save Gotham from carbon-dioxide as well as crime. Using hydrogen fuel cells, lithium-ion batteries and a special 'breathable carbon-fiber' construction, the latest crime-fighting vehicle is a more lithe means of transport than the Tumbler.
Elsewhere on the tandem two-seat car are ‘virtual wheels' that are emblazoned with LEDs to give the car ‘life', whilst the Formula One-inspired shape utilizes ‘ground-effect' technology to boost grip and stability at high speed.
Murray claims that the car was designed with the idea of being a plausible car for the future, as a result the majority of technologies used are based on materials available today, albeit envisioned 50 years into the future.
