Harley dealer Bruce Rossmeyer dies in motorcycle accident
Fri, 31 Jul 2009Harley-Davidson dealer Bruce Rossmeyer died in a motorcycle accident Thursday morning in Wyoming.
Rossmeyer collided with a pickup truck about 11 a.m. and was thrown from his motorcycle; he was not wearing a helmet, according to media reports. He was traveling as part of a convoy to the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota.
Rossmeyer oversaw one of the largest motorcycle empires in the world. His Florida-based chain also included dealerships in Massachusetts, Colorado, Mississippi and Tennessee. He also launched Destination Daytona, a hotel-retail development surrounding his Harley dealership in Ormond Beach, Fla.
He was active in charities and served on the Harley dealer council from 1995 to 2002.
A call to the Wyoming Highway Patrol was not immediately returned Friday.
