Henrik Fisker launches new luxury sports car company
Tue, 25 Jan 2005Henrik Fisker and Bernhard Koehler have announced the opening of a new luxury car company, Fisker Coachbuild, based in Southern California to appeal to the global market. The focus of the company will be on designing and manufacturing exclusive high-end sports cars, which will be limited to 150 units per design and sold under the Fisker brand name, with world-wide distribution.
The first public unveiling of the new designs will be scheduled towards the end of 2005, with production to commence during the second quarter 2006.
Since August 2003, Henrik Fisker was the Director of Ford's Global Advanced Design Studio (CAPC) in Irvine, California. Fisker was also Director of Design for Aston Martin since August 2001, and was responsible for the Design of the Aston Martin DB-9, as well as the AM-V8 Vantage show-car and upcoming production car.
Fisker was creative director of Ingeni - Ford Motor Company's London-based design and creativity center - from September 2001 through to August 2003.
Prior to joining Ford Motor Company and Aston Martin, the Danish designer was president and chief executive officer of Designworks/USA, a subsidiary of BMW headquartered in Newbury Park, California, with a European office in Munich, Germany. Under Fisker's direction, the industrial design firm created a variety of concept cars and products for companies worldwide - including office organizers, mobile phones, bicycle seats and snowboard graphics.
Previous to his appointment at Designworks/USA in January 2000, Fisker was a designer for BMW AG. Amid other projects, from 1992 to 1997, Fisker designed the exterior of the Z07 concept car which was showcased at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. From 1989 to 1992, Fisker worked as a designer at BMW Technik GmbH, BMW's advanced design studio in Munich.
Henrik Fisker graduated from Art Center College of Design in 1989.
