Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200 revealed
Sun, 14 Feb 2010Honda has revealed the limited edition Civic Type R Mugen 200
Back in October Mugen announced that there would, after all, be a Euro version of the Mugen Honda Civic Type R. But only in limited numbers – just 20 cars hand-built by Mugen in the UK. This Mugen Civic Type R gets some much-needed mechanical and supension fettling, but costs a somewhat hefty £38.5k.
Now we have the announcement of the Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200 (guess how many of these they’re building) which is all about the show, not the go. But Mugen are adding a limited slip diff to help with traction, so there’s a little bit of fettling of the less than ideal Type R setup.
The core of the Mugen 200 is the aesthetics with new bumpers with skirts, a set of 19″ ”Lightening’ alloys, a Mugen ‘Limited Edition’ plaque, Mugen badging and a ‘Championship White’ paint job with gloss black mirrors. There will also be a set of options allowing owners to tweak the chassis as dealer fit options.
For existing owners of the Type R, Honda has also revealed that a number of their dealers will be stocking a range of Mugen tuning parts, body kits and interior mods from April. The paint job of the Mugen Type R 200 will also be used by Honda’s BTCC team for 2010 where two Civics sporting a similar paint job will compete.
The order book for the Honda Civic Type R Mugen 200 will be opening next month. No prices have been revealed yet so the best guess is somewhere around the £32k mark.
