Honda Electric Sports car Concept at Tokyo & six more concepts too

Home Motor Shows are car makers’ favourites, so with the Tokyo Motor Show just round the corner Honda has revealed plans for seven concepts at the show including a small electric roadster and a plug-in hybrid – the Honda AC-X.
Honda’s display at the Tokyo Show is going to be the biggest of any car maker. The headline act – certainly from a petrolhead’s point of view – is probably going to be Honda’s Small Sport EV Concept.
It’s not exactly the replacement for the NSX we’d hoped might make an appearance on concept form, but Honda do say the small sports car ‘maximizes the fun of driving while achieving excellent environmental performance’. It appears to be a Targa-top, but Honda are keeping the details until Tokyo. But the EV sports car offers promise as a plaything.
Also on show will be the Honda AC-X Concept. Just like the EV sports car, Honda are giving much away, but Honda say the AC-X will offer ‘…a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience in urban and long-distance motoring’, and comes with dual modes – one for having fun and one for being parsimonious.
In amongst the Small Electric Sports Car and the AC-X, Honda have five other concepts ranging from the EV-Neo electric scooter and the EV-MONPAL Kart to the tiny Micro Commuter Concept designed for shuffling a pair of commuters around.
Honda are also taking the hydrogen fuel cell FCX Clarity to Tokyo.
