Honda replaces Jazz ES with ES Plus – puts price up

The Honda Jazz ES Plus (pictured) replaces the old ES trim

Mid-summer (if, indeed, this is summer) is not the best of times for car sales, so we get used to car makers offering enhanced specs to get punters through the door. Which is why Honda has revealed the Jazz ES Plus. Replacing the current Jazz ES, the ES Plus gets extra toys such as a set of 16″ alloys, privacy glass, cruise control, armrest for the driver and leather on the steering wheel and gear knob.

Great, we thought, another ‘more for no more’ offer to tempt buyers in to Honda’s showrooms. But not quite.

Honda tell us the new ES Plus costs from just £14,495 – which is a fine price for a perfectly decent car – but unlike other enhanced specification offers we’ve seen recently, Honda has sneaked in a price rise for the ES Plus of £495.

A chunk less than it would have cost to spec up the old ES, we’re sure, but the ES Plus is a case of ‘more for not a lot more’.

Still, it gave Honda the chance to push their current finance offers to get more buyers signing on the dotted line, with the Jazz from £145 a month on a 0% APR offer, a Civic 1.4 i-VTEC SE for £199 and a CR-V 2.0 S 2WD for £259 a month.

The new Jazz ES Plus is on sale now, and Honda are running the o% finance offer from now until the end of September.
