Hyundai HND-9 Concept
Thu, 28 Mar 2013Hyundai has premiered its new HND-9 concept at the Seoul Motor Show.
The luxury sports coupe concept, designed at the carmaker's Namyang Research and Development Center in South Korea, is its ninth concept model and is expected to preview the next Genesis coupe. The HND-9 fastback is 4,695mm long, 1,890mm wide, 1,340mm high and sits on a wheelbase of 2,860mm.
Suk-Geun Oh, head of Hyundai Design Center, said, "HND-9 will give customers a glimpse of Hyundai's future luxury sports coupe models. Representing an evolution of Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture' design philosophy, the rear-wheel drive sports coupe concept balances high performance with a sophisticated image."
The concept features butterfly doors and a prominent hexagonal grille at the front of the long, low hood. Smooth character lines that stretch from the front to the rear help to give the concept a sculpted, muscular appearance. Hyundai designers opted for sculpted rear combination lamps and dual tailpipes on both sides for a futuristic look.
Inside, the driver-orientated interface is inspired by a jet fighter cockpit and has seats made of a unique mesh material that projects different colors depending on what angle it is viewed from.
