Hyundai Veloster Turbo will cost £21,995
Tue, 28 Aug 2012Hyundai has revealed the price of the Veloster Turbo SE as £21,995. It will arrive in UK showrooms next month.
It’s been nine months since we learnt that Hyundai plan to offer the Veloster Turbo in the UK, and now we know it will arrive in Hyundai UK showrooms in September and cost £21,995.
Despite the addition of a real life turbo – and turbo badges – the Veloster Turbo isn’t the most potent hot hatch ever to hit the road; in fact, the UK’s Veloster Turbo is actually less powerful than the one our Colonial cousins get.
That drop in horses – and slight increase in torque – is claimed by Hyundai to make our Veloster Turbo more nimble and useable on UK roads.
That means 184bhp and 195lb/ft of torque is available from the 1.6 litre T-GDi offering a 0-62mph of 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 133mph, 1.4 seconds and 8mph quicker than the non-turbo Veloster.
Despite extra power the Veloster Turbo gets an official economy rating of 40.9mpg (which means 157g/km emissions) which does mean you’ll be able to nip around a bit quicker without it hitting your wallet too hard.
The Veloster Turbo also gets new bumpers, grill and front fogs to make it look a bit more butch, with a bigger back spoiler, diffuser, LED brake lights and a red ‘Turbo’ badge, as well as new 18″ alloys and side skirts. Just so the neighbours know.
Inside you’ll get new leather seats and more ‘Turbo’ logos, electric drivers seat, 7″ Touchscreen SatNav with media centre and reversing camera.
All of which makes the new Veloster Turbo a decent possibility for a warm hatch buy.
