Hyundai beats 2011 sales figures – with almost 2 months of 2012 left
Mon, 12 Nov 2012Hyundai UK has revealed that it has sold 64,000 cars so far in 2012, beating the 2011 sales total of 63,577 with almost two months to go.
Hyundai UK is celebrating after surpassing their total UK sales of 63,577 cars in 2011 with the best part of two months of 2012 still left to rack up more sales – 64,000 cars sold in 2012 and counting.
The strong Hyundai sales are no doubt thanks to a strong showing from the i40 and i40 Tourer and the new i30, both of which are now rolling out of UK showrooms in decent numbers.
But with more new and convincing models on the way it looks like 2013 could be an even stronger year for Hyundai, despite issues in the States with mis-stated fuel economy figures (which is giving Hyundai and Kia a bit of trouble), the UK should remain unaffected by any backlash from that as no such issues exist this side of the Pond.
Waiting in the wings is the new, more sporty looking, 3-door Hyundai i30, and we’re expecting Hyundai to start bolting the turbo from the Veloster in to more cars during 2013, which should add a nice performance glow to the Hyundai range, as should Hyundai’s return to WRC Rallying with the i20.
As well as the more sporty Hyundais in 2013, the new Hyundai Santa Fe is coming on stream – and looks thoroughly convincing – and a facelift for the ix35 (although not the one we’ve seen with the Santa Fe nose) should help keep ix35 sales buoyant too. And we mustn’t forget still strong sales for the i10.
Now all we need is something at the top end from Hyundai as their credibility grows.
