Hyundai i10 (2014)
Wed, 07 Aug 2013This all-new Hyundai i10 is the second generation of the Korean brand's European-designed and engineered A-segment hatch.
It's 80mm longer, 65mm wider and 50mm lower than its predecessor, although its wheelbase has only grown by 5mm. This new set of dimensions reduces some of the upright look of its predecessor as Hyundai strives to shift its model range further upmarket.
Designed in the company's European design studio under chief designer Thomas Bürkle, the i10 continues the ‘Fluidic Sculpture' design language but in what appears to be a more understated guise here. A deep, inverted trapezoidal grille is flanked by hockey stick-shaped DRLs, while its side profile is features a distinct rising wedge shape thanks to the widow graphic and contrasting rocker cover.
We're yet to see it interior but it promises class-leading space and features such as a heated leather steering wheel to ram home its premium pretensions. Expect an official debut at the Frankfurt show next month.
