Hyundai i30 three-door Paris 2012 Debut
Fri, 14 Sep 2012Hyundai has revealed the three door version of the new i30 ahead of a debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The new Hyundai i30 range continues to grow with the i30 3-door joining the 5-door hatch and i30 Tourer, and bringing with it a more stylish look.
The 3-door i30 – we want to call it the i30 Coupe – gets a sharply-raked beltline and a more angular glasshouse with longer front doors, and looks a lot more sleek than its five-door sibling.
Up front there’s a new black mesh insert and central bar for the grill with new fog light clusters connected to the daytime running LEDs and a new look lower bumper.
On offer under the 3-door i30′s bonnet there’s a choice of four engines (and five power outputs) with a six-speed manual as standard and auto option. Perhaps the most interesting from an economy point of view is the ‘U-II’ 1.6-litre diesel with 126bhp but just 97g/km emissions, which means economy of better than 70mpg.
Perhaps Hyundai could drop the suspension and stick a big set of funky alloys from the Veloster on the i30 3-door – and the engine from the Veloster Turbo – and make the new Hyundai i30 coupe 3-door a very convincing hot-hatch option?
Not that we know Hyundai are planning a hot version of the 3-door i30. But they’d be daft if they don’t.
