Hyundai i40 goes posh with new Premium SE trim

Hyundai is launching a new range-topping trim for the i40 and i40 Tourer – Premium SE – with lots more toys. Price from £26,065.

Once you’ve turned your brand from cheap and cheerful to mainstream and credible, the route to go is to mix in some overtly sporty models and start to nudge in to premium territory too.

Which explains why Hyundai is busy putting their reasonably warm 1.6 litre petrol turbo in to their cars – the Veloster Turbo already and the i30 to follow – and why they’ve announced a new range-topping trim for the i40 – the Hyundai i40 Premium SE.

The Premium SE trim is available on both the i40 saloon and i40 Tourer and ups the toys and gadget count by quite a bit – perfect for those wanting plenty of toys but still with an eye on budget.

Premium SE trim comes with all the stuff that used to be available by buying option packs - Comfort, Vision and Assist packs – in the price, with standard equipment including heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, adaptive xenons, lane departure, tyre pressure monitoring and electric tailgate..

The i40 has, and continues to be, a tremendous product to have in our range and to date it has sold in excess of 7,000 units since launch. The addition of the Premium SE trim to the line-up means customers now get even more comfort, luxury, convenience and safety features as standard, most of which are on-cost options with other rival mainstream D-segment cars.

The i40 Premium SE Saloon costs £26,065 for the 1.6 CRDi and £27,270 for the auto version. The i40 Tourer Premium SE is £27,465 for the 1.7 CRDi and £28,670 for the auto (you can’t have an auto ‘box if you opt for the Blue Drive models).
