Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel – just 200 being built

The Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel – a tweaked and titivated FX50S – is going in to production. Just 200 being built.
Last year we had an Infiniti FX special edition concept to make the most of Infiniti’s spend on Red Bull Racing – the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel – which we subsequently reported was going in to production.
Now Infiniti has finally got round to announcing that the FX with the Vettel badge will be made (could it have something to do with the first F1 race of the 2012 season kicking off at the weekend?) and that just 200 cars will be built.
It seems that Infiniti are targeting Europe and the Middle East for the Vettel FX, but we don’t yet know if Infiniti plan on building any RHD ‘Vettels’ for the UK. But even if they do, there aren’t going to be many available with just 200 spread across the whole of Europe and the Middle East.
Infiniti haven’t defcided what to charge for the FX – or at least they’re not telling us – but it won’t be cheap. The regular FX50S costs almost £60k in the UK and you can add a few tens of thousands to that for the FX Vettel, no doubt.
What you will get if you decide it’s worth it is a few more horses – 414bhp as opposed to 385bhp in the 50S, which makes the Vettel good for 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds – lots of carbon fibre, longer gearing, increased downforce and a firmed and lowered suspension.
The Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel will arrive with customers early in 2013, and in the meantime you can probably expect Vettel to turn up to a race or two this year in an eponymous Infiniti FX.
