Infiniti G lineup anchored by smaller V6
Fri, 13 Aug 2010Infiniti is adding a smaller V6 to its G sedan for the 2011 model year. The G25 sedan becomes the base model for the G line, which includes a coupe and a convertible.
The G25 goes on sale in September with a base price of $31,825, including an $875 destination charge. The base 2010 Infiniti G37 carries a sticker price of $34,125 including destination.
Under the hood of the G25 is a 2.5-liter V6 engine, built with the same VQ engine architecture as the 3.7-liter V6 used in the G37. The 2.5-liter V6 is rated at 218 hp, down 110 hp from the 3.7-liter version. Torque is rated at 187 lb-ft for the 2.5-liter unit, down from 269 lb-ft for the 3.7-liter engine.
Beyond the engine, there are few changes for the G25 sedan. It shares its exterior and interior styling with the G37. Buyers of the G25 won't be able to get the Sport package or a navigation system. The G25 will have a seven-speed automatic transmission standard. Buyers can also take the G25 with all-wheel drive, and with a Journey equipment package.
The Journey package will add a rearview monitor, automatic temperature control, automatic headlights, heated front seats and heated outside mirrors.
