If you’re pumping big bucks in to F1 – as Infiniti are with Red Bull – then you want to make sure you get a return in the form of road car sales. Which is why we’re getting theĀ InfinitiĀ Q50 Eau Rouge concept, heading for a debut at the Detroit Auto Show this month. Teased with a front view last month, the Q50 Eau Rouge gets a complete body makeover – inspired, of course, by Infiniti’s F1 Aerodynamics with Red Bull – which makes the Q50 both lower and wider than the standard model and gets a carbon fibre front splitter, rear diffuser and side skirts.
There’s also a set of 21″ lightweight alloys, sports exhaust and more carbon fibre for the roof and door mirrors as well as a big integrated spoiler at the back.
What we don’t know is whether the Q50 is going to get any extra power.
The regular Q50 comes with a 3.7 litre V6 delivering 329bhp but is overshadowed by the output of the Hybrid version of the Infiniti Q, so if this Q50 Eau Rouge is a pointer to a new Infiniti Performance Line Q, we’d expect it to come with a significant hike in power too.
No doubt we’ll learn more when the Q50 Eau Rouge debuts at the Detroit Auto Show on 14th January
