Infiniti: Entry-level Infiniti teased ahead of Geneva

Infiniti has dragged Rolf out of the cupboard again, shoved a paintbrush in his hand and told him to illustrate their new, entry-level concept heading to Geneva. Which is Rolf’sĀ firstĀ Infiniti gig since the Infiniti Performance Line G Coupe got teased last year ahead of Pebble.
What we have this time is what Infiniti describes as a “…concept for a luxury performance car that will fit below the current G Line.” Which means it’s small. Think A/B Class or maybe A1 or 1-Series. It is, we assume, to be Infiniti’s answer to the Lexus CT 200h.
So it’s not a bird and it’s not a plane, but is it a hatch or is it a crossover? We’re pretty sure it’s not a saloon, but as Infiniti say it’s “…completely different to anything currently offered by our rivals.” we’re can’t be sure. But our money is on a small crossover.
We had thought that Infiniti’s new entry-level model would be based on the next Mercedes A/B Class platform. But as Mercedes has yet to show their version, we’re none too sure. We also expected this new Infiniti to come sporting Mercedes four-pot lumps – diesel and petrol. Which does seem likely. Still, with Geneva just a few weeks away we’ll know soon enough.
And who knows, with an expanded range Infiniti might even be able to rustle up a few cars for review.
