International artists give Volvo XC60 a makeover
Mon, 24 Jun 2013A 2014 Volvo XC60 was given a makeover at the third annual Volvo Art Session in Zurich, Switzerland, by a team of international artists.
The event, which took place at Zurich's central train station, carried theme of ‘Designed Around You' and placed a white XC60 in front of a white dropback canvas. Artists were then set the task of transforming the car into a personal work of art, but which would only exist until the next artist took over and painted over it.
This year's artists were: German 3D graffiti artist DAIM; French-American pair Koralie & Supakitch; the Etam Cru from Poland; Swiss graphic designer Blanda Eggenschwiler; Canadian couple Lexr & Evoke and the German-based half-Chinese artist Daniel Man.
Anouk Poelmann, president of Volvo Cars Switzerland, said: "The diversity this year was immense, and this was really noticeable. Positive and creative energy flowed throughout the stage where the artists were working. Passersby were constantly stopping and taking photographs of the work. Many stayed long enough to see the transformation of the car."
Italian photographer Francesco Carrozzini was at the event to capture it all, and his pictures will be published in a photo book later this year. It was also caught on film, using a high-end time-lapse camera.
This year's event was co-hosted by the UK-based art and style magazine i-D.
